Stage of screening (Day 1):

The day commences with the Officer intellect Rating (OIR) test, which consists of multiple-choice questions to gauge a candidate’s verbal and non-verbal intellect. Candidates are chosen for the next level using the results of this test.

  1. Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT) : In this test, candidates must construct a story based on what they see in a picture after viewing it for 30 seconds. The time limit for candidates’ stories is four minutes.
  2. Conversation : Following the PPDT, applicants take part in a roundtable conversation where they share their own narratives and work to develop a cohesive plot.

Psychological Examinations (Days 1-2):

The candidate’s psychological and personality features are evaluated at this stage. The tests it comprises are as follows:

• Candidates take the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) : which involves showing them a sequence of confusing photographs and asking them to describe each one in detail—including the characters, setting, and result.

A set of 60 words are presented to applicants in the Word Association Test (WAT) : one after the other. Within 15 seconds, they must come up with a phrase using the word.

The goal of the interview is to ascertain the candidate’s motivations, mental processes, and capacity for making decisions.
  2. Conference (5th day) : The interviewing officer, group testing officer, and psychologist are among the assessors who meet for a conference on the last day. They discuss each candidate’s suitability for the armed forces and evaluate how well they performed at each step. Whether a candidate is recommended, not recommended, or put in the “conference out” category is decided in the end.
